Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah hate Karnataka and its farmers. Inspite of state’s request to provide justice to Karnataka, the central government has not responded till date and therefore we are drawing the attention of the people of the state and the country through protest.

He was speaking to the media today after participating in a protest in front of Gandhi statue in front of the Vidhana Soudha against the central government’s discrimination in providing drought relief to the state government.

‘A memorandum was submitted to the central government on September 22, and the central team studied the drought situation in the state for 4 days and submitted a report. Meanwhile, Minister Krishna Bhyre Gowda and Priyank Kharge met the concerned ministers and explained about the drought in Karnataka. There is severe drought in the state, and we have declared 223 taluks out of 240 as drought affected. Such severe drought has hit the state after 100 years, but Amit Shah when he visited Chennapatna, had said that we have delayed   submitting the request, the CM said.

Not a single rupee from Centre was sought for guarantees.

Both Narendra Modi and Nirmala Sitharaman have lied that we are asking for grants  for guarantee schemes and not for drought. But we have not asked a single rupee from the Center for guarantees. We don’t even need it, he said.

We have successfully managed drought so far

Guarantees are provided from our own resources. We have earmarked Rs 36,000 crore for the last year and Rs 52,009 crore for the next year. Due to drought, crops are damaged in 48000-hectare area. Farmers are in distress. Our government has spent 650 crores for providing 2000 rupees to 34 lakh farmers. We have so far managed the drought situation successfully. We have provided drinking water, fodder, jobs to people, migration of workers have stopped and first installment compensation to farmers have been paid, he said.

What face does Narendra Modi and Amit Shah have to come to Karnataka?

The centre has been requested to release Rs.18172 crores from NDRF. It has been 7 months since the request was made.  I myself have met the Prime Minister. He said that he will inform the concerned and ask them to release it immediately. Later, when myself and  Krishna Byre Gowda met Amit Shah on December 20th  he promised to call a meeting on December 23 and settle it, but nothing has been done so far. With which face will Narendra Modi and Amit Shah come to Karnataka? He said that we are protesting to bring it to their notice that they have no morality to come to the State repeatedly.

Go back Narendra Modi Amit Shah

The Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman  had allocated  5300 crore for the Upper Bhadra Project in the Budget .The budget has been passed by the Parliament. Even Basavaraja  Bommai, the then CM has said in his budget that they would declare Upper Bhadra Project as  National project, but nothing has happened till date. Besides that, the 15th Finance Commission did not provide  Rs 5495 crore special grant. Nirmala Sitharaman and Narendra Modi are the reason behind it. Rs  3000 crores for the Peripheral Ring Road and 3000 crores for the development of Bangalore lakes were recommended, but that too was  not sanctioned.  Narendra Modi remembers Karnataka only during elections. He did not visit the State during floods and   during the terrible drought. They are now visiting Karnataka to ask them for votes so we are saying Go Back Narendra Modi, Go Back Amit Shah.

Let Amit Shah provide relief to the State and then visit the state

Let Amit Shah, who is visiting the State today, hold a meeting and allocate Rs. 18171 crores and then visit. We will tell them that they have no right to ask for votes . He said that we have made a fair demand.

We had to inevitably knock the doors of Supreme Court

The state government inevitably had to move the Supreme Court. There the Attorney General did not mention the lies told by Narendra Modi and Nirmala Sitharaman. Karnataka was shown mercy as the state government presented appropriate and factual information about tax injustice. “The Supreme Court has shown mercy on our behalf,” he said. If we had not gone to the Supreme Court, we would not get any compensation.

We appeal to the People’s court for justice

On behalf of the state, we will expose the lies of the Bharatiya Chembu Party of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah to the people. We have already gone to the Supreme Court. Now we will go to the People’s court to appeal for justice. Randeep Surjewala said that they will try to uproot the Modi government not only from Karnataka but also from other parts of India.

Injustice cannot be tolerated.

Responding to a question from the media that if the political conflict continues, there is a possibility that the development works of the state will be set back, the CM said let them give us justice. Injustice cannot be tolerated, he said.

AICC general secretary Randeep Surjewala, ministers Krishnabyregowda, K.J George, Ramalingareddy, Bairathi Suresh were present.
